Staff Research Associate - Drug Research Unit / LC-MS Background

This Staff Research Associate II will lead and assist with analytical assay development, assay validation and sample analysis for drugs and biomarkers central to the UCSF Drug Research Unit’s research for drug development and pathogenesis of HIV, HIV cure, malaria, pediatrics transplant/oncology, and other disease states. They will work directly under the direction of the DRU Lab manager, alongside co-Directors, lab staff, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and student interns.

Collaboration and grant support

As a pharmacology core, we regularly support junior and established investigators at all project stages across therapeutic areas. This includes:

  • Preliminary assay development.

  • Drug-level analysis to support preliminary data.

  • Assistance with grant writing related to quantitative methods and clinical pharmacology approaches.

  • Mentorship for training and career development awards (e.g. K awards, RAP applications).

  • Pharmacokinetic and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PKPD) analysis including noncompartmental analyses, population pharmacokinetic analyses, and other quantitative pharmacometric approaches.

  • Assistance with relevant statistical analyses including basic viral and immune modeling.

  • Manuscript preparation related to clinical pharmacology analyses.
