There is a pressing need to translate basic science research into clinical application. The PharmD-PhD career path meets that need efficiently and within a unique university devoted solely to the health sciences, including the core functions of discovery, translational science and patient care.
Graduates are uniquely suited to perform basic and clinical research and to translate research results into clinical practice. The program prepares graduates for careers in academia, as faculty members in schools and colleges of pharmacy, government, leaders in drug discovery and development in the pharmaceutical industry, or other health settings where they will engage in academic instruction, clinical care and research. In addition, students meet all requirements for licensure as a pharmacist in California.
