Brenda Ametape

PhD Candidate, Bioengineering, UC Berkeley- UCSF

Brenda is a PhD student at UCSF & UC Berkeley, co-advised by Dr. Minnie Sarwal. She earned her BS in Bioengineering at CSULB. Her research focuses on RNASeq data analysis for drug repurposing in organ transplants, translating discoveries into real-world solutions using computational tools.

Akanksha Dua

MD Candidate, UCSF

Akanksha is a MD Candidate at UCSF and is passionate about working at the intersection of medicine and data to guide decision-making and evidence-based regulatory policies to improve access to care. She obtained her MS in Health and Medical Sciences from the University of California Berkley School of Public Health and her BA in Applied Math & Statistics, Neuroscience Studies at Macalester College.

Merie Okorie

PhD Candidate, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacogenomics (PSPG), UCSF

Meri earned her bachelor's degree in biotechnology with a focus in cellular, molecular, and microbial biology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She is currently a student in the PSPG program, working with the Andrews and Yokoyama labs. Her research focuses on understanding how genetic, environmental, and socioeconomic determinants interplay in Alzheimer’s disease across Black, Hispanic, and White populations.

Thu Vu Minh Pham

PhD Candidate, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacogenomics (PSPG), UCSF

Thu is a PhD candidate in the PSPG program at UCSF. Her doctoral research focuses on how gene regulation drives chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, using CRISPR and multi-omics in human sensory neurons to inform safer, more effective cancer treatments for patients everywhere. She received her BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of California, Davis.
Marcus

Marcus Alonso Cee Williams

MD/PhD Candidate, UCSF

Marcus is currently pursuing his MD/PhD degree at UCSF and is a graduate student in the joint UCB-UCSF Bioengineering Program. He received a BS in Biochemistry from Fort Lewis College. Marcus is interested in developing gene therapies for neurological disorders.
