During her postdoc studies, Ketaki examined the binding of soluble TREM2 and fibrillar Aβ using integrative molecular modeling based on cross-linking mass spectrometry data. Ketaki found that soluble TREM2 inhibits secondary nucleation of Aβ fibrillization and enhances cellular uptake of fibrillar Aβ Her integrative approach revealed at least two ligand-binding surfaces on soluble TREM2: one binding Aβ fibrils and the other anionic polyvalent ligands (i.e., membranes).
