Nick will be starting his own lab (https://www.polizzilab.org/) this May!

DGL postdoc Nick Polizzi will be joining the faculty in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School and the Department of Cancer Biology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Nick’s group will seek to develop protein design methodologies for exciting applications such as genetic code expansion.
During his postdoctoral work, Nick developed COMBS (Convergent Motifs for Binding Sites), a structural bioinformatics approach to the design of small-molecule binding proteins. Leveraging this approach, he designed proteins from scratch that bind a clinically relevant small-molecule drug, and he confirmed the accuracy of one of the designs via X-ray crystallography (Science 2020 369 1227-1233; https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abb8330). Congratulations to Nick on his new position!

We had a group farewell party for Nick at SF Kebab. We will miss you Nick and good luck!
