“Capped-strapped” peptide featured on cover of ChemBioChem
DGL postdoc Haifan Wu’s work on peptide design was published in the most recent issue of ChemBioChem and featured on the cover. This work described the design of a short helical peptide called a “capped-strapped” peptide (CSP). Unlike traditional helix stabilization methods, i.e. stapled peptides, that will leave flexible ends, CSP uses a macrocycle to bridge and rigidify the N and C-termini. Further investigation into the pharmacologic properties of this new class of helical peptides is underway, and we look forward to new bioactive molecules as research tools as well as therapeutic candidates!
