What do we do?

  • We provide technology help to faculty members, guest lecturers, and student pharmacists involved in the PharmD curriculum.
  • We train our audience in using required software.
  • We publish technology guides and FAQs.
  • We represent students on educational technology issues and act as liaisons between students and administrators.
  • We provide IT support for the campus-owned computers in the S956 student lounge.

For example, we can help with:

  • computer encryption

  • new device setup

  • virus and malware removal

  • freeing hard drive space

  • operating system updates

  • installing required programs

  • wireless networking (UCSFwpa)

  • Examplify (test-taking software)

  • Citrix/APeX

  • remote network connections (Pulse Secure)

  • Ilios calendar syncing

  • email

  • data backup

  • tablets and smartphones

  • software training

  • new computer consultations

What is and isn’t supported?

Supported

  • Devices supported by UCSF or UCSF School of Pharmacy or that meet the technology requirements specified for the year the student pharmacist entered.

  • Newer software and devices for which support is announced by UCSF or UCSF School of Pharmacy.

  • More details: Technology Requirements

Unsupported

  • Devices not supported by UCSF or UCSF School of Pharmacy or that do not meet the technology requirements specified for the year the student pharmacist entered.

  • Newer software and devices for which support has not yet been announced by UCSF or UCSF School of Pharmacy.

When new major versions of software are released, we recommend that you wait for an all-clear campus or School announcement before you upgrade. If you don’t wait, you might be unable to complete certain tasks if the new software is somehow incompatible with our computing environment.
