Creating a bioartificial kidney as a permanent solution to kidney failure

Kyle Chang was diagnosed with end stage renal failure due to Emergency Room visits for unrelated health issues in 2013. He went from two native kidneys down to zero kidneys and has now been gifted with one kidney from a deceased donor in December of 2020 in the midst of the pandemic. While on dialysis, he has utilized in-center hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and home dialysis modalities.
